How Awicko Hundhwe Moved from Grass to Grace and his Journey in Ohangla Music
The wise people once said moving from grass to grace and this can be evident in the life of Okumu Wyckliffe alias Awicko Hundhwe. Awicko was born on 2nd February of 1996. His birth place is Karapul Alego, Randago sub county in Siaya County.
Awicko is a 2nd born in a family three and he is the only male child among two girls namely Lovine Atieno and Mercy Akoth. His parents are Mr. Peter Okumu and Mrs. Roseline Okumu.
Hundhwe is a learned fella who begun his education at Achage Primary school found in his maternal grandparents’ village. His childhood was not as fancy as other privileged kids would have due to limited financial access.
He continued his education at Salama Primary in Huruma after he relocated to Mathare North slums in Nairobi. This is where he sat his KCPE before joining Christian High school in Siaya town in 2010 where he studied and sat his KCSE in 2013 and passed very well which enabled him to join KCA university in 2015 for a degree in Business and Commerce, Accounting options.
Awicko developed interest in music while in campus which shaped up his career as a musician. He tried looking for jobs related to his academic achievement but he could not get any which cemented his passion in music more.
How Awicko Hundhwe Moved from Grass to Grace and his Journey in Ohangla Music
After venturing into music, he released his first single in 2019 titled Hera Ndadho. This he did at One Studio. By this time, Awicko had no band or had not joined any but in 2020, he formed Limbo Ohangla Rhumba Band, (LOR). Limbo is a Dholuo word meaning a dim light o star as seen from a distance.
The period between 2021 to 2024, he released series of singles such as,

He is yet to officially launch his own album. Awicko Hundhwe prides himself as being a self made artist. This journey has been full of many challenges but he is sure of growth despite at a slower rate. This growth cab be affirmed by the fact he won his first award as New Artist of the Year 2023 at second edition of Marwa Music awards.
His loyal fans have always supported him and even gave him a nickname as the King of Lyrics as his lyrics are usually catchy and focuses on teachings, love and issues around the society. As a way to create impact and leave marks in the industry, he dreams of forming Pektipo Music Empire where he will sign artists and nurture them.
He is a happily married man to Mitchel Ouma from Homa Bay County and have been blessed with two girls namely Princess and Harrien Kendra. Awicko got into marriage quite early but has managed to wade through to raise a very beautiful and happy family.
