Musa Jakadalla is among the top Luo Ohangla musicians who has contributed hugely in development and growth of the industry. He has grown to become a very established artist and this has been a journey of several years of hard work and dedication.
Musa Jakadalla Real Name, Date of Birth and Age
Despite using the stage name of Musa Jakadalla, his real name is Moses Odhiambo Obok. Moses was born on the 23rd of July in 1989 making him 35 years old as of 2024.
Musa Jakadalla Home Background, Family and Education journey
Jakadalla was born and raised in a humble family in Ugunja Sub-location in Siaya county. Having been born in a big family of many children, he was born as a 7th born among 8 children. Their life was not easy especially after his father died while he was still a very young boy.
This affected his education and he had to drop out. Musa started looking for ways to earn a living and he sometimes traveled to Uganda where he did fishing for some time before returning to Kenya. Upon the return, he went to Nairobi city and settled in Kayole.
While in Kayole, he trained himself as a mechanic and this earned him some which enabled him to resume his education. He registered at St. Agnes in Kayole where he completed his education in 2009.
Musa Jakadalla Journey in Ohangla Music
After his education, he continued with menial jobs within the Eastland areas. As it is the norm, most ohangla live shows are done in the Eastland and so Musa and his friends would always attend these shows after work. Through this, his love and passion for music started growing.
In 2012, Jakadalla joined Blaze Africa band of Agodi Mayaka where he worked as a drummist,, dancer and even a backup artist. He worked with the band for one year and later in 2013 left to form his Super Latin band with some friends he had made. He explained that there were issues in the band which saw him along with other members suspended. At this point he decided not to join any other band again despite interest and availability of other bands like Emma Jalamo and Lady Maureen.
Jakadalla released his first album in 2013 made up of six songs. However, it did not do well as per expectations. He quickly worked on another album called Nya Siaya which he released in 2014 which at least did well as some radio presenters had started knowing him so they played his songs.
Musa Jakadalla’s Breakthrough and Hera Remo Album
The turning point of Musa in music was in 2106 when he released the famous Hera Remo album. The background of this album was his meeting with Engineer Wuod Fibi at Deno Nguasi’s studio where Wuod Fibi invited Musa to his Barikiwa Studio for some project that was to feature Onyi Papa Jay and other artists.
Musa was hesitant to go but Wuod Fibi insisted. He finally went to Barikiwa when it was still based in Lucky Summer. Here they recored the songs in the album which Wuod Fibi gave to presenters some to play and the responses were amazingly good
After 8 months, they were ready to release the album of six songs and on October 8th, the launch took place at Egesa Villa and this was his breakthrough and turning point as the song Hera Remo became and instant hit which placed him in the public limelight immediately.
Musa revelealed that he received millions of money from this album launch and subsequent gigs and endorsements which changed his life within one week. He traveled home and built his mother a house just immediately he launched the album. After that Wuod Fibi took him to United Kingdom together with Igwe Bandason.
Since then, Jakadalla has remained a great figure in music with hit songs each year. He has a bunch of albums to his name all of which have done exceptionally good. In 2023, he celebrated 10 years in music under the Kadalla’s 10 Years Experience.
Musa Jakadalla’s Wife, Children and Gay Allegations
Musa Jakadalla has been accused of being gay by some unverified sources. Those behind such allegations claim that his style of dressing and haircut is suggestive of being a member of the LGBTQ group. However, in an interview with Oga Obinna, Jakadalla warned those who spread such hate to stop.
He explained that the people behind thses accusations are those who are interested in knowing his family which he has kept out of social media. However, he assured that he is a family man married for over 10 years with two children.
